The Collaborative Network for Persons Living with HIV (C-NET+)
kehpca_logoC-NET+ (Belize) is an organization with a vision of becoming a vibrant internationally recognized empowered and enabled network, improving the quality of life of all persons with and affected by HIV in Belize in an environment that promotes Human Rights, and is focused in providing quality services and support to persons with HIV and key population in Belize. C-NET+ Association have been recognized as a legal public charity organization granted by the General Registry according to the law of Belize. Since 2011, C-NET+ has promoted Positive Health, Dignity and Prevention, Human Rights, effective legislation, monitoring Universal Access and advocating for the greater and more meaningful involvement of persons with HIV and members of key populations in decision making process through the establishment of a self-sustained and empowered network.

Successes

  • C-NET+ promotes meaningful representation of persons with HIV in the national response; obtaining viral load tests in Belize; and demystifying HIV via the “Belize Campaign” and their weekly radio show.
  • C-NET+ provides a safe space where persons with HIV can go for testing and other services. C-NET+ has improved through their advocacy efforts the level of care in the country.
  • C-NET+ has moved persons living with HIV from being invisible to being key members of the national and regional responses. They have been able to:
    • improve the quantity and quality of life of persons with HIV through their programs like the home visits program,
    • provide data that was not available before through studies like:
      • the assessment of the quality of health care,
      • the people living with HIV stigma index,
      • the risks profile of persons with HIV and
      • <the assessment of the capacity of civil society organizations in advocacy and social monitoring.
