Men as Partners Program, Engender Health - South Africa

Men as Partners Program is a program of Engender Health in South Africa that engages men in HIV/AIDS prevention programs through care and support activities. The program organizes workshops and uses the media to promote change of social norms and remove stereotypes about people living with HIV. Toward this goal, the organization supports various events such as health fairs, theater performances, painting of murals, “digital stories” with photos and video clips. This variety of events enables people living with HIV to tell their personal experiences, many of which are violent. These stories are later shown in trainings and public community screenings throughout South Africa. The organization also works closely with governmental clinics and hospitals to ensure that men receive adequate services.
